"Horyuji Treasure Museum Party"
30 July 2005.

Part of the Tokyo National Museum, the Horyuji Treasure Museum was dedicated to the Imperial family in 1878 by Horyuji Temple in Nara. After WW2, administration was transferred to the national government. It houses more than 300 treasured items, most from the 7th and 8th centuries. The current building dates from 1999, and was designed by Yoshio Taniguchi. During the recent tranquil days of Japan’s rainy season, a party was held here for visiting American oil company VIPs.
The theme of the party was “WA”, meaning in Japanese harmony. As an expression of modern Japan, the indoor lobby was transformed into a superb dinner party venue, all coordinated in a traditional kimono theme. Lotus candles floated in the large garden terrace pool, and no effort was spared to create the light of welcome.
